TPSMEA Children’s Honor Choir
Eligible Students
Children’s Honor Choir is for 5th and 6th graders. Students must be no younger than 10 years old and no older than 12 years old on the date of the event (date of the event is published on www.tpsmea.org).
Selection of Students
Directors select, by their own criteria, which students may participate. The number of students each school may send is based on the total enrollment of 5th and 6th graders at the school. Please note that this is NOT the total school population, but rather the total number of 5th & 6th graders at your school!
If your school’s population of 5th/6th graders is: You may send to Honor Choir:
1-20 1 alto, 1 soprano
21-40 2 alto, 2 soprano
41-79 3 alto, 3 soprano
80-99 4 alto, 4 soprano
100+ 5 alto, 5 soprano
Children’s Honor Choir is limited to 100 students, divided equally between soprano and alto. Please make sure that you enroll equal numbers of each (soprano & alto) based on your school’s eligibility.
Cost of the Event
The fee for Children’s Honor Choir is $30 per student. Directors should collect monies from parents and then have ONE school check sent directly to the TPSMEA business office when registration is complete via solochair.com.
Registration Process
Directors will register students for Children’s Honor Choir via www.solochair. Please log in to your solochair account and follow directions for registering students for this event. You will be asked to provide the enrollment number of 5th & 6th graders from your school, so please be prepared to supply that information. Once you have registered the students online, you will receive an email from the event host with the printed registration form attached. Please print copies of this form for your students and send them to the event host (address is given on the form). Fees for the event should be mailed directly to the TPSMEA business office Please note that fees must be paid with a school check; no personal checks from parents will be accepted!
Repertoire
The repertoire list is found on the TPSMEA website. Publisher information is given with the titles. Music is NOT sent from the host; rather, directors must obtain the music for their registered students as soon as possible. Please remind your students that the music must be thoroughly learned before the event date.
Directors’ Responsibilities
Directors MUST attend the event with their students, or send a representative/proxy during the concert weekend.
Every director will have a specific job assignment from the event host to help make this event run smoothly.
Directors should plan to arrive 30 prior to sectional rehearsal on Friday for an orientation meeting.
Directors should plan to assist with sectional rehearsals on Friday (directing, accompanying, crowd control, check roll, etc).
