Director Information
The Middle School Honor Choir is a fabulous learning experience where talented middle school singers are selected through an audition process to sing in a clinic/concert with approximately 80 private school students from Texas. For auditions, students prepare 3 choral works, learning their vocal part. A panel of judges, (participating directors) will listen to the CD’s and select the top 20 sopranos, altos, tenors and basses to make up the Honor Choir. These students will come together for a weekend to work under the direction of a well-known conductor and then finish out the weekend with a concert Saturday afternoon. Students are exposed to quality instruction, challenging music and the joy of singing with other gifted singers from all over Texas. Students are awarded an Honor Choir patch and a wonderful learning experience!

SOME GUIDELINES:
*Please go to the tpsmea.org website and look over audition procedures for “All-State Choir Auditions” as we follow the same guidelines. You may also preview the newly added section for MSHC, although it has very few details.
- Participating directors MUST attend the MSHC judging at Trinity Christian Academy in Carrolton on Friday, October 13 or pay (in advance) a fee of $60.00 to pay for a proxy. Directors that do not attend or fail to secure a proxy will have their students’ CD’s pulled from the judging.
- Contest entry per student is $14.00.
- Registration must be made by WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 14th through SOLO CHAIR.com (accessible through tpsmea.org………FORMS.)
- Directors must use the accompaniment CD produced through tpsmea to record their student’s auditions. See tpsmea.org, under CHOIR to order these CD’s.
- Participating students must be ages 12 – 14 and must not turn 15 until after the clinic/concert weekend. (Students need to be in 6th – 8th grade. If a student is 14 and in the 9th grade, they need to participate in All-Region/All-State Auditions.)

PURCHASE OF “O VOS OMNES”
We have received the rights from Oxford University Press to make up to 300 copies of, “O Vos Omnes” at a cost of $0.75 for each copy. This will keep directors from having to purchase the entire collection at a cost of $19.98 per copy. This is how the process will work:

AUDITION CD & REHEARSAL CD:
Bass Line Productions has created a spectacular rehearsal CD to help students prepare for auditions and the Clinic/Concert Weekend. Directors MUST use the audition CD accompaniment to record their students for the MSHC Competition.
Please visit the tpsmea.org website, click on CHOIR and look to the right column where you “click here” under the “Order form for rehearsal CD’s, Middle School Honor Choir”. The entire CD combo pack (vocals with accompaniment, accompaniment only, and the Cut CD) is $100.00.
