Distinguished Administrator Award

The members of the TEXAS PRIVATE SCHOOL MUSIC EDUCATORS ASSOCIATION have the opportunity to nominate an administrator who has demonstrated continuing leadership in developing, improving and supporting music education within a wider commitment to arts education. Music educators are aware of the importance of principals, headmasters, presidents and other administrative officials in creating and maintaining successful music programs. Nominees should be exceptionally skillful in showing support for the arts in ways that include personal attitude and philosophy, program development and improvement, awareness to the special needs of space, scheduling, and equipment, commitment to professional growth of faculty members, and leadership in providing financial assistance. The members of the TPSMEA Executive Board will make the final selection and the selected and announced no later than January 26, 2019. The award will be presented at the All-State Concerts and the recipient will be invited to attend the performances as a guest of TPSMEA. The Distinguished Administrator will receive a plaque from TPSMEA, a feature article on the TPSMEA website, and press releases to appropriate news media and professional organizations. Members of the Executive board may not submit a nominee for the award while in office.

Please give your reasons for the nomination of this administrator. Some information that will be especially important to reference includes the following:

  1. Nominee’s biographical information, professional experience, degrees earned, and honors received.
  2. Describe the personal philosophy of the Nominee regarding the importance of the fine arts in education, particularly music.
  3. Describe some features of the school that demonstrate how the music program has benefitted during the Nominee’s term of office. (Sources may be news articles, statistical data, etc.)
  4. Give examples of the Nominee’s strong leadership, excellent school management, and good rapport with teachers, parents, and students.
  5. Include any other unique information or characteristics that support the selection of this administrator.
