Middle School Choir Director

St. Andrew’s Episcopal School is seeking an experienced, energetic, and dynamic individual with a passion for teaching choral music and musical theater to students in grades 6-8. To see recent performances of the current program, please watch this video. The candidate should understand and be able to model proper vocal technique, be familiar with suitable, age appropriate, inclusive choral repertoire, and should demonstrate a medium-high level of piano proficiency. The successful candidate will thrive in collaborative situations, as classes are co-taught with the Middle School Theater Director. This is a full-time position beginning August 1, 2024. Beyond relevant credentials and experience, successful candidates should
love working with middle school age students, demonstrate a creative and engaging instructional style, and value the development of the whole student. In addition to teaching duties, faculty members are broadly involved with school life. Each faculty member also serves as an advisor to several students and attends one overnight school trip per year.

Primary job responsibilities include:

  • Co-Teacher of the 6th Grade Choir & Theater class, 6th grade Exploratory Singing class,
    and 7th/8th Grade Choir & Theater class.
  • Choose a variety of choral repertoire for the Winter concert, St. Andrew’s Day, Lessons &
    Carols
  • Collaborate with MS Theatre Director to choose and cast both the 6th grade musical
    (junior) and 7th/8th grade musical (full show)
  • Teach both choral and musical theater techniques, including but not limited to: blend,
    balance, phrasing, style, good tone production and quality, proper breathing and
    appropriate vowel formation.
  • Should demonstrate proficient choral conducting skills and ability to play voice parts on
    piano; accompaniment skills are a bonus.
  • Will connect with students and provide an enjoyable classroom experience while teaching
    with enthusiasm, creativity, and sensitivity to students’ learning styles.
  • Rehearse, record, and submit auditions to TPSMEA (Texas Private School Musical
    Educators Association) for MS Honor Choir, coordinate travel logistics and accompany
    selected students to the honor choir.
  • Attend musical rehearsals and serve as the rehearsal pianist or play tracks during
    rehearsal.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 2 years of classroom teaching experience
  • Four year undergraduate degree or equivalent required; post graduate degree a plus.
  • Ability to scaffold material for classes with students of varying experience.
  • Strong collaborative skills through empathetic and positive communication.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to work with a diverse

ST JOSEPH HIGH SCHOOL

Band Director

Seeks a band director with vision for building musical and spiritual excellence for our students. The band director will show leadership in music education by implementing an attentive, engaging curriculum in which each student can grow using educational standards in musical excellence while learning in a positive environment.

Position will begin August 1, 2024.

Band Director – High School (7th-12th Grade)

Direct and manage a traditional high school band program for grades 9th through 12th. Develop lesson plans and deliver instruction within established curriculum guidelines, assess student progress, and support the school in its stated mission.

 Coordinate and conduct fall marching band, marching band competition, solo/ensemble competition, and any other competitions through TAPPS, TPSMEA, etc.

 Band Director- Junior High

 Direct and manage 7th and 8th grade students from partner schools as a part of the  high school band program.

 Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in music or music education, with emphasis in instrumental or conducting preferred.

 Valid Texas teaching certificate

 Valid Texas commercial driver’s license with passenger (P) and school bus (S) endorsement preferred.

 Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of overall operation of a band program
  • Knowledge of state and TAPPS policies governing band
  • Ability to create and implement policy and procedures
  • Ability to manage a budget in conjunction with Chief Financial O cer

ROLE PURPOSE 
The role of the Choir Director is to educate and mentor students through educational instruction toward LCCS expected outcomes in Choir classes and Fine Arts productions.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The expectations for the position of teacher at Lake Country Christian School shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

 EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor’s Degree is required with at least 3-5 years of previous teaching experience
  • ACSI certified or secure ACSI certification within a reasonable time after employment.
  • 2+ years of professional Vocal experience

 Academic Responsibilities

Courses include:

  • 5th and 6th Grade Choir/Musical Theater

The position may also entail the following:

  • Music Director for the High School Musical

  • Participate in departmental/grade-level meetings for the purpose of reviewing and

  • Music Direct and produce a Middle School production that alternates each year between a play
and a musical
  • Music Direct and produce a 6th Grade shortened musical
  • Lead and schedule extracurricular rehearsals for the high school musical
  • Schedule and coordinate with faculty the tech week schedules and participate in tech week for the high school musical, high school play, and middle school musicals/play
  • Coordinate vendors that help produce each production
  • Evaluate past productions to improve future productions

Parental Responsibilities

  • Realize that the parent has been given the Biblical mandate to educate, and the school functions as an extension of the Christian home.
  • Communicate with parents liberally, giving special consideration to challenges and opportunities to share successes.

ROLE PURPOSE

Middle and Upper School Choir Director

Job Type: Full-time

Greenhill School is seeking a passionate and experienced educator for Upper School and Middle School Director to join our Fine Arts Department and play a pivotal role in nurturing the musical talents of our students by fostering a love for choral music. RESPONSIBILITIES

Requirements

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

Choir Director
